  • Post 16 Cyber Crime Presentation

    6th February 2018

    On Monday 5th February 2018 we met Eamonn Larkin, Crime Reduction Officer from South Yorkshire Police, who gave a very informative presentation to our Post 16 students. Eamonn is an expert in Cyber Crime Awareness. Our students learned about hacking and Cyber Crime. We discussed topics including;

    • Choosing a safe password,
    • Common issues (Viruses, Spyware, Botnet, Ratting and Phishing)
    • Current user issues (Blackmail, Revenge, Social Media and Dating sites)

    We discussed ways to protect ourselves from Cyber Crime.

  • Post 16 Army Careers Presentation

    5th February 2018

    Andrew Turner of the Doncaster Army Careers Office delivered a presentation to our Post 16 students to inspire today’s young people to consider the Army as a career.

    The presentation covered the role of the army in today’s world and the many types of careers available in the armed forces, including roles such as chefs, aircraft technicians, administration, medical, computers and logistics. It also looked at the army’s role in

    Please be aware there has been an incident reported on Wednesday 24th January 2018 of an unknown male allegedly chasing some teenagers/students whilst under the influence of drink at around 8pm at Snipe Park area of Bircotes.  Nottinghamshire Police are aware of the incident where they have confirmed nobody has been hurt or injured.  They are advising anybody with any further information to contact the Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting incident number 000792-24012018.

  • Toy Stories Mini Sagas Competition Winners

    23rd January 2018

    Congratulations and well done to pupils in KS1 and KS2 who have had their mini sagas chosen for publication in the latest book to be published by Young Writers.

    The sagas had to be no longer than 100 words and have a clear beginning, a middle and ending and tell the tales of what toys get up to when no one is around.

    We are delighted to announce that 42 winners have been selected to appear in the latest publication from Young Writers when it comes out in May 2018.

  • Year 9 Assembly

    17th January 2018

    Year 9 students have had an assembly on the Meninoccal ACWY and Diptheria, Polio and Tetanus Vaccinations by the Immunisation Team based at Retford Hospital.

    They have been informed of the importance of having vaccinations to keep our young students safe.

  • Bookbuzz Book Review Competition

    Following the launch of our November Bookbuzz Campaign to encourage reading for pleasure in Serlby Park, we are delighted to announce the winners of our latest book review competition.

    We were overwhelmed with the response from our pupils, who were thrilled with their book choices. Pictured here are Piper and Alicia in Year 8 with a brand new book of their choice.

  • Booktrust School Library Pack comes to Serlby

    10th January 2018


    A brand new set of fantastic books have just arrived in our library courtesy of the children's reading charity Booktrust.  

    The School Library Pack has been carefully selected to provide a set of high quality books suitable for a range of reading interests and ages. The pack includes fifteen titles, split across three categories - Future Classics, Reluctant Readers and new for this year Non-Fiction.

  • Penguin Schools Book Bundle Winner

    Serlby Park Library is delighted to be selected as the national winner of the Penguin Random House Publishing House Free Prize Draw for 2017.
    A fabulous selection of the latest books for children have just arrived in school including stories by Rick Riordan, Jacqueline Wilson, Clare Balding and Tom Fletcher. These books are a wonderful addition to our library and be available for pupils to borrow straight away.

    Our Post 16 students welcomed Jenny Webster from The Money Charity on 18th December 2017.
