    NCS held an exciting information assembly for our Year 11 students.   • Speaker & Guide Dogs Visit - Secondary Pupils

    As part of our on-going fundraising for good causes, I am delighted to say that Thursday 15th March we have some guest speakers visiting the Academy along with their guide dogs. All pupils have been given a letter to take home with them. Students have also been asked to make a voluntary £1 contribution, in addition to this there will be merchandise on sale.

  • Moto in the Community

     Moto in the Community Book Programme

    We are delighted to announce that once again our community partner, Moto Services in Blyth, has generously donated over £5000 in brand new books to Serlby Park Academy. 

    Since 2006, Moto have pledged over 123,000 books into their adopted schools nationwide. They identified a real need to assist schools struggling to fund adequate resources for their literacy schemes and school libraries.  Their campaign is supported by the generosity of customers and visitors to Moto serv

  • Post 16 News Presentation on Water Safety

    Gary Willoughby of The Fire Service presented to our Post 16 students to remind them of the dangers of swimming in open water.
    Over 400 people die in the water every year in the UK, and firefighters are urging people to follow some basic rules to stay safe.

    Our students welcomed Keith from HOPE Collision Project for a presentation on peer pressures around anti social behaviours and unsafe driving. These include such things as not wearing seatbelts, changing the music, using a mobile phone, drinking and dangers associated with driving and being a passenger.

    HOPE Collision Project promotes safety through public awareness of the need for home and road safety and also how to manage the risks.

    Unfortunately Serlby Park Academy will remain closed on Friday 2nd March. Despite our best efforts to reopen the academy, the conditions on the approach to school are unsafe. We will open as usual on Monday morning.

  • 'Design a Book Cover for Bookbuzz'

    Congratulations to Daya in Year 6 who has been selected as the KS2 winner of this year's  Serlby Park Book Illustration Award.

    Last October, our Year 6 pupils had the chance choose a brand new book from sixteen specially selected titles provided by the reading charity Booktrust.

    Daya chose the book 'Wonder' by R. J. Palacio which has just been released as a movie.

    Well done to Daya and we hope she enjoys her prize, Fuzzymud by Louis Sachar.

     

     

  • 'Design a Book Cover for Bookbuzz'

    Congratulations to our pupils in KS3 who have been chosen as the winners of this year's Serlby Park Book Illustration Award. 

    Last October, our pupils had the opportunity to choose a brand new book from sixteen specially selected titles provided by the reading charity Booktrust. We then launched an art competition to re-design the book covers. We received dozens of high quality entries so well done to everyone who took part.

     The brand new Bookbuzz books for 2018/2019 will be available in the Autumn term.
