Booktrust School Library Pack comes to Serlby

10th January 2018

A brand new set of fantastic books have just arrived in our library courtesy of the children's reading charity Booktrust.

The School Library Pack has been carefully selected to provide a set of high quality books suitable for a range of reading interests and ages. The pack includes fifteen titles, split across three categories - Future Classics, Reluctant Readers and new for this year Non-Fiction.

 Future Classics

An independent selection panel of school librarians and children's book experts have selected five of the best new books currently  available. These include: The Bone Sparrow by Zana Fraillon, Booked by Kwame Alexander and

Stargazing for Beginners by Jenny McLachlan.

Reluctant Readers

We have received some great books for reluctant and struggling readers, including illustrated fiction, accessible novels for readers with dyslexia and graphic novels. These include: Danger is Really Everywhere by David O'Doherty,

Hilda and the Troll by Luke Pearson, and Thicker than Water by Anne Cassidy.

This pack includes some inspiring non-fiction books providing facts, information and true-life stories in a range of formats to help readers understand more about the world around them. These include: Science Tales by Darryl Cunningham

and Football School by Alex Bellos and Ben Lyttleton.

Our library provides freedom for students to choose books, discover new authors and reading material. This collection of books are a wonderful addition to our library and we hope they inspire a lifelong love of reading.
